26 - Strawberry Ferry

Hearing of Marion’s brigade moving to Wambaw Creek, and the rift between Maham and Horry, Loyalist Col. Benjamin Thompson moved through Goose Creek to Monck’s Corner, crossed Biggin Creek, south to Childsbury across Wadboo Bridge to the east side of Strawberry Ferry. There the British captured an American Lieutenant and six men, along with a large number of livestock. Thompson’s men, about 50 cavalry and 300 infantry were reported to Horry by his scouts as being at Guerin’s Bridge, moving toward Horry’s position at Wambaw Creek.
